Silicone Solvent (236ml)
Solvent for dissolving/diluting various artist paints and varnishes.
A solvent that dissolves wet silicone is needed to thin silicone to painting consistency and for clean up. All solvents should be used in a well ventilated area. . Some solvent brands smell less than others. Silicone-based solvents can be safer to use and smell less. Some silicone solvents like Silicone Art Materials OSS Odorless Silicone Solvent have no smell at all. Citrus based d-Limonene can also be used as a solvent.
Solvent Gels: Silicone thinned with solvent will usually cure before the solvent thoroughly evaporates. Until the solvent evaporates, the material will be a soft gel rather than a rubber, and will be weak. As the solvent dries, the material takes on more of its formulated qualities, eventually firming up to rubber. Depending on the solvent, this can take a few minutes, hours or even days. Forced air will help speed dry time. Like a fan or hair drier.
TIPS:
Mix Well: Mix pigment well into silicone until no streaks show. Silicone is the medium that binds the pigment. Without the binder, the pigment would wipe off silicone. Mix only enough pigment into silicone as it will give you working time. You might want to mix up your pigment color on a palette or in a small cup, and mix that as you need it into silicone. So you can repeat the color in multiple batches of silicone
